Louise Furey has an MA (Hons) and a Doctor
of Science degree from Auckland University. She has been an archaeologist
for 27 years and has carried out site assessments and archaeological
excavations in the upper North Island. A wide range of experience
has consolidated an understanding of the issues affecting the management
of archaeological sites. Research skills are demonstrated by the
publication of several monographs on archaeological excavations
and Maori artefacts, and overview thematic studies on Maori archaeology
for the Department of Conservation. She has been engaged by NZ
Historic Places Trust to project manage several archaeological
investigations on the Trust’s behalf.
For a number of years Louise has been actively
involved in the New
Zealand Archaeological Association, the member body
advocating archaeology and site protection in New Zealand, and
is the business manager of the NZAA monograph series, overseeing
publication and sales of books on New Zealand and Polynesian
archaeology. |
